Song: Blame-  Angels Like Us

*Spoilers*

Holy hell. Me and my buddy, Akuma-Karyuudo, were discussing Secret World’s take on the lore of hell. From the missions I had done battling The Encroachers, Consecratix, and The Annexing Angels, I figured it was very heavy on the Dante’s Inferno and Lovecraft stuff.

Through me the way into the suffering city,
Through me the way to the eternal pain,
Through me the way that runs among the lost.

The setting and denizens of hell have a definite harmony with the Inferno prose.  And the character of Wicker, who I know very little about at this point, seems to be the lost lamb who has chosen to be the martyr of hell, deeming it the lesser of evils amongst the realms of humanity.

Assassins, earn you place on top of the 9 houses. Bring me the one in whites head.

Another reference to The Inferno and Wicker’s machinations in hell, calling for The Chosen (our characters) pawns to snuff out this problem before the rifts allowing the hell creatures to manifest on earth become completely unstable.

The speech Wicker’s succubus companion, Saccares, gives is ultimately one of the game’s best I have heard so far.

So sorry. Your princess is in another castle.

You. Me…on a beach of razor fossils, the Vultures of Leng fucking your nerve endings like a fabulous instrument….

Call me sometime!

Should I be laughing or shitting my pants?  The clockwork, industrial feel reminded me of the book Angels on Fire by Nancy Collins, as did the mythos, in some ways- hell as a machine that leaves the taste of iron on the palate and corrodes flesh. Also very Hellblazer. The two headed Machine Tyrant with its limp and pitchfork arm and two heads I see as a mindless tool, the guardian of the cogs of hell, much like Cerberus, puppeteered by the hierarchy of sentient demons.

Akuma killed this, though.  In there fighting that bastard by himself until the end while the rest of us just sat in the resurrection corral.

For a $30 game, that ain’t a bad deal.  It might be a sign that it’s a flop, but that doesn’t detract from it being a blast to play. Bonus that it’s got a heavy Lovecraft influence.

Besides, that usually clears out all the twinks, and makes it easier to find quality RP, IMHO

I haven’t picked up my sketchbook in two weeks. I’m in hiatus mode, I figure.

So no art dump today, just terrible, no good, very badly drawn, painted, smeared, blorped art from the past.

Ghastly & hideous.

Tasteless, horrendous.

Yet…inspiring in its inadequacy.

Not actually porn. Though it is Alan Moore’s version of a Lovecraftian tale, the Neonomicon miniseries. So I guess that should explain things. And it ain’t like I didn’t ever write some pretty fucked up Lovecraftian erotica before myself. COFF.
