I’ve been roleplaying with someone I count as my one of me best friends. We’ve had more then ten different partnership together, but lately she’s been more focused on the accounts that are with other people.

It’s reduced me to tears more then once, and I don’t want to ask her because I don’t want to feel like I’m pressuring her to roleplay with me..

I don’t mean to whine, but this happened to me recently. And I did ask the person more than once. Granted, it was a reverse situation- We role played for 2 years, then didn’t for a year. When I came back they seemed very interested, but when I asked, I was told all their nights were booked up so they could RP with a single person (no comment on that).

Then one day they asked me to RP, and I agreed. It seemed they were into the plot, because we played for 10 hrs with a couple extended breaks in-between. We talked about it some days later and there was agreement for further sessions, and they even were discussing how much they liked the NPC’s i’d set up.

But the next session they set a time, and when I came online at said time, they told me that they didn’t want to RP because they weren’t up to it. and it was cool. I know how that goes. But every time I asked afterward it was a string of straight no’s. Eventually they told me that their characters weren’t compatible with mine. and when I boggled at the WTF of that, they told me they were too crazy.  And since they’ve known me for years, and we’ve always been somewhat close friends, and they know the blunt stuff about my life, I could only interpret that as you’re too crazy. Because what came after was I can’t really fit you into my RP schedule anymore.

People who roleplay together for extended periods of time- months, years- build very strong bonds. They get involved in each other’s lives to the point of being symbiotic sometimes. When they constantly reject the RP while being active elsewhere without explanation that they’ve lost interest or RL etc etc, it isn’t just a rejection of your characters or stories.  It’s a rejection of you, even if their reason is valid.  You have a right to your feelings. But always make sure not to force the other person to try to see it your way. Cos that right is their’s.

I withdrew from that person without a goodbye, because I forgave their actions and was willing to always pick up things. But they haven’t contacted me after not hearing from me in a week. So my thoughts were pretty validated. It does hurt. But there isn’t a way to control the situation, so one has to figure out how to cope.
